Planning Your Party: Futuristic & Fantastical

The Future: as a party theme it’s made up of endless opportunities. Does your future look like The Jetsons? 2001: A Space Odyssey? Gattaca? Or maybe your idea of The Future is unlike anything anyone has yet dreamed up! (Although we think everyone should have a Rosie robot) Want to completely cover your venue in white or drape all the walls with fiber-optic light curtains? Do it! Or does your vision include covering almost everything in Spandex and topping the Dr. Seuss-esque table centerpieces with disco balls? Cause ours did! The sky’s the limit on this one but here are some ideas to get you started…

Theme: The Future

Description: Neon colors, pulsating lights and ambient trance music set the scene for a party reminiscent of something yet unknown. This theme would be fantastic for a corporate event centered around a new product launch or anything that calls for forward motion!

Suggested attire: Futurist – get creative! You could ask that guests wear black and then hand out glowing accessories upon arrival.

Food and Drink: International cuisine with futuristic presentation; think neon stands and lots of varying elevation. Serve drinks in glowing glassware and include some neon shooters! If your event is alcohol-free, consider serving fruit juices with exotic garnishes or extravagant straws.

Décor: Guests enter through a tunnel flanked with search lights. Dry ice would be a nice effect for the entrance. Tables are covered in spandex and centerpieces are up-lit with neon lights. Fiber-optic light curtains adorn the walls .

Entertainment: Futuristic circus performers would surely fit the bill! Can anyone say ‘Cirque du Soliel’ act??  Mimes, psychics and musicians add a nice touch either at stations or as strolling entertainment.

Music: Consider hiring a Video Jockey for your musical entertainment as s/he can incorporate futuristic video with top 40 songs, allowing for dancing! Be sure your guests have practiced their robot skills!

Parades, Costumes, Beads – It’s Mardi Gras!

Okay, so we realize we’re a little late on this. Mardi Gras was officially yesterday. We’re going to blame our belatedness on one-too-many paczkis.

Mardi Gras is the ultimate party. It’s colorful, lively and eclectic. There’s booze and fancy donuts. And the carnivalesque festivities culminate with costumes and parades. The carnival season may only last a couple of weeks but Mardi Gras makes for a fantastic theme party any time of year. With myriad decoration ideas and a great color scheme, a Mardi Gras themed party is perfect for a corporate event, holiday party, birthday extravaganza or any other special occasion.

Monte Carlo Night!

It really doesn’t get better than this. Last weekend we created a spectacular holiday event for Producer’s Choice. This was our 5th year providing them with fantastic decor and superb entertainment. This year’s Monte Carlo theme was the perfect opportunity to implement some of our best props, decor and casino equipment. Event production by Joe Peraino.

For a Monte Carlo themed party, you really need to have a good mix of luxury and sophistication. Guests were ushered down a gold carpet runner and greeted with an arched entrance flanked with palm trees. The room was graced with fountains and statues, nicely lit against the dark decor of the room.

Lorio Ross provided really sleek black Chiavari chairs and iridescent crush black linens. The floral table arrangements, which incorporated a crystal candlestick with beaded shade,  really popped against the black table settings.

A good corporate party isn’t just about the decor. For this Monte Carlo party we provided deluxe, skirted black jack, poker, craps and roulette tables. Guests had a variety of games to choose from as Lorio Ross Entertainment provided 10 dealers!

The night continued with some fantastic entertainment from the spectacular band Nightline. The group’s repertoire covers music from the Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey-era straight through golden oldies, Motown, disco and Top 40.

The stage was set with a fiber-optic curtain as the backdrop, which really added to the ambiance of the performance. Check out Nightline here!

There’s a clever little platform out there called Pinterest. We’ve known about it for a while but only recently started putting it to good use. Not only is it another way for us, as an events and entertainment company, to connect with people but it is also a fantastic way to keep track of ideas and inspirations for future events, parties and weddings.

When it comes to event planning, the sky really is the limit. No longer is there a template for events. Holiday parties, weddings, corporate events, private engagements… your only limit is your imagination. Because we want to be able to work with any concept a client fancies, it is important for us to have a place to stockpile ideas, references and any other cool stuff we happen to stumble upon.

Cruise Ship Themed Corporate Party

Your employees feel like they deserve a company trip to the Bahamas via a fancy cruise ship? That’s not in your budget.

You and your employees can still bathe in the sun at a cruise ship themed party! Line the walls with wall paper that looks like side of a cruise ship. Have the dress code be “tropical attire” and guests must bring a piece of luggage to enter. Get some lawn chairs for guests to kick back and sip on some tropical drinks (little umbrella included)! Have plenty of spots for photo ops, like under arches to tropical paradises or an arch made

out of life preservers.  Give out flower or shell necklaces. Decorate the tables in crisp whites and bright blues. This corporate party theme leaves plenty of room for creativity! You can include anything tropical or even summery. For food, try a buffet style. For music, play both fast party tunes and slower songs so couples can dance together. You can even include some nautical hits like Love Boat or Under the Sea. It’s all up to you! This is a theme that guests will be sure to enjoy and your bank account won’t suffer!

Fairy Tale Theme

A fairy tale theme can be used for anything from weddings to corporate parties.  You can create a mystical atmosphere using decorations, music and different food choices. Lorio Ross Entertainment has planned fairy tale corporate events with castle walls surrounding the room and Disney characters walking around.  If you do decide to go the Disney route, you can pull ideas from popular movies such as Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. You can also go the Little Red Riding Hood way with more traditional fairy tales. Finally, your event can be character free with the general vibe of fairy tales.

Holiday Corporate Parties

If you want to plan an awesome holiday party for your company, you better get working now! Show your employees how much you appreciate them with a night of games, decorations and fun.  Think arcade games, casino games and game show style games. Another fun idea is to have a murder mystery party! Have a mystery and give each employee a role. There are plenty of story lines that include the holiday season as well! Don’t be afraid to hire some entertainment for the night. You can go with a  band, DJ or even something a little different like a comedian! Finally, decorations. You can go with traditional reds and greens. For something less Christmas-y, try using blues, whites and silvers to give a more winter wonderland effect. Don’t be afraid to go outside the box. Super Hero Theme Corporate Party

Joe Peraino, Event Producer and CEO of Lorio Ross Entertainment, is currently planning an epic super hero themed party for New Horizons.  Capture this idea for your next corporate event! New Horizons’ guests will enter the event by walking into the Hall of Justice, complete with lights and draping. After entering, employees will embark on an adventure of a lifetime! They will see Wonder Woman and Captain America walking around and posing for pictures. There will be tables draped in bright super hero reds, blues and golds. Huge Kryptonite center pieces will light up each of these tables. A photo booth will be available so guests can snap pictures with their closest friends. If that’s not enough picture taking for you, there will be a digital photographer taking pictures in front of green screens. You can stand in Gotham City, next to Superman or be on an magazine cover! Drinks will be served over an custom made ice bar with two ice luges coming down the sides. Arcade games, tattoo artists and laser tag will be available as well. Instead of seeing the bat symbol in lights, you’ll see the New Horizons logo flashing around the ceiling. Other decorations include super hero cut outs and tons of pipe and drape. Finally, the grand finale will include a super hero flying down to the stage via a zipline!

Arcade Games

Adding arcade games to your corporate  party (or any other type of party) is a great way to get guests to loosen up and have fun! Everyone there will be forced to mingle in an environment that’s fun and inviting. Think fooseball, pool, air hockey , wii games and any classic arcade game. Another awesome aspect to this party favor is the fact that arcade games come in all shapes and sizes. Have a unique theme? There is most likely an arcade game that goes along with it.
