Thank you to a recent bride for this fantastic review of L’USA! It’s really rewarding to be involved with such great clients on their special day.
Kim and the L’USA band,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everything you guys did. 🙂 You guys handled everything beautifully. I really think that the reception went so smoothly because we had amazing entertainment, and a great MC. So many guests told me how much fun they had and the music was awesome! Seth is still telling my mom what a great idea it was to book L’USA! His brother was raving on facebook on how the band ended the night with the greatest song ever. Thank you for the fun night and the great memories, and thank you for creating great moments that we will never forget.
It’s Wedding Wednesday! Earlier in the week we brought you ideas and advice regarding choosing a song for your First Dance. In continuing with the music theme, today we’re sharing our most requested Father/Daughter & Mother/Son dance songs as well as some advice to consider when making your choice!
While the Father/Daughter dance is often the tradition, some couples opt to also include a Mother/Son dance. One of our fantastic agents, Sandee Singer, has a few tips!
If you are going to do both, I suggest either 1) choosing a song that can work for both, first inviting the bride and her father and then, about half-way through, inviting the groom and his mother to join or 2) choose two shorter songs… the least special songs, the better! You don’t want your guests standing around waiting to get on the dance floor!
Another option to keep the special dances to a minimum would be this. Have the bridal dance start with, of course, the bride & groom and then in the middle of the song, invite the parents and bridal party to join in. This not only allows this section of the reception to move quicker but also saves the need to have a ‘bridal party’ dance song. Another benefit is that it may calm any ‘all-eyes-on-them’ anxiety the bride & groom have about the First Dance.
One last tip… if you introduce the bridal party at the beginning of the reception, there is no need to do it again during the bridal party dance. If you choose to invite the bridal party to join in, skip the intros.
With that advice in mind, check out a few examples of great Father/Daughter & Mother/Son song options…
You really can’t go wrong with either of these Stevie Wonder classics…

“I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful evening of fun music at our daughter’s wedding. I hope you enjoyed playing as much as we enjoyed you. Everyone thought you all were just great, and we enjoyed working with you as well. I hope that the next time we need a band that you will be available!”
“I wanted to thank you for playing at our wedding. We had an amazing time and the music was great. People raved about the band and you had everyone out dancing until the lights came up. I think the music really can make or break a reception and you made our one nobody will ever forget. Thank you for handling everything and making it a perfect night.”
