The Future: as a party theme it’s made up of endless opportunities. Does your future look like The Jetsons? 2001: A Space Odyssey? Gattaca? Or maybe your idea of The Future is unlike anything anyone has yet dreamed up! (Although we think everyone should have a Rosie robot) Want to completely cover your venue in white or drape all the walls with fiber-optic light curtains? Do it! Or does your vision include covering almost everything in Spandex and topping the Dr. Seuss-esque table centerpieces with disco balls? Cause ours did! The sky’s the limit on this one but here are some ideas to get you started…
Theme: The Future
Description: Neon colors, pulsating lights and ambient trance music set the scene for a party reminiscent of something yet unknown. This theme would be fantastic for a corporate event centered around a new product launch or anything that calls for forward motion!
Suggested attire: Futurist – get creative! You could ask that guests wear black and then hand out glowing accessories upon arrival.
Food and Drink: International cuisine with futuristic presentation; think neon stands and lots of varying elevation. Serve drinks in glowing glassware and include some neon shooters! If your event is alcohol-free, consider serving fruit juices with exotic garnishes or extravagant straws.
Décor: Guests enter through a tunnel flanked with search lights. Dry ice would be a nice effect for the entrance. Tables are covered in spandex and centerpieces are up-lit with neon lights. Fiber-optic light curtains adorn the walls .
Entertainment: Futuristic circus performers would surely fit the bill! Can anyone say ‘Cirque du Soliel’ act?? Mimes, psychics and musicians add a nice touch either at stations or as strolling entertainment.
Music: Consider hiring a Video Jockey for your musical entertainment as s/he can incorporate futuristic video with top 40 songs, allowing for dancing! Be sure your guests have practiced their robot skills!
What would your futuristic party include?

June and July has brought with it so many corporate picnics and outdoor events. From small private gatherings to parties of 500+, outdoor events bring different challenges but also offer unique opportunities for entertainment. Since it is Wedding Wednesday we wanted to focus today on some fun entertainment ideas for those couples celebrating their nuptials in the great outdoors.
If you’re having your reception outside you may be faced with some questions about the types of entertainment you want to offer. Let’s say your guest list is small, maybe 50 or less. A 10 piece party band is probably just not the right choice for you. Unless your group is full of people who just loooove to dance. Perhaps you really want live music as part of your event, and that’s great! We really encourage live music because it adds to the atmosphere and ensures your guests have a fantastic time. So maybe you keep your live music to a jazz trio for dinner, awesome! What other entertainment are you going to have on-hand?
Or perhaps you are having a big shindig with 300 of your friends and family! Whew – what a party! But you’ve opted to host your event midday and dancing isn’t going to be on the menu. Again, you’re faced with a decision about alternative entertainment for your guests.
We have a lot of ideas when it comes to outdoor entertainment and we’ll be sharing those over the coming weeks. Today, though, we want to give you 5 alternative entertainment options in the form of outdoor games! We’re not going to suggest that you have your heeled bridesmaids partake in a game of volleyball but there are some options for classy garden games that will have your guests interacting and enjoying themselves in no time.
You don’t have to find yourself on a well-pruned English lawn in front of a sprawling cathedral to play this classic garden game. It does, however, help to be drinking champagne 🙂
Okay so you may not be Umberto Granaglia but, no matter! Bocce Ball is another family favorite and is easy to set up almost anywhere!
Bean Bag Toss
This class back yard game is the ultimate wedding choice. Why? Because you can personalize it! You can diy the bean bags with your date transferred on to them or even paint the bride and groom’s silhouettes on to the box!
Depending on your venue, you’ll have to get permission for this one before you hammer a stake in the ground. But if you can, horseshoes is a great entertainment option for rustic, barn weddings!
Tic Tac Toe
It’s Tic Tac Toe, yes, but it’s also X’s and O’s! A great garden game, you could create your own with stones or build giant sized letters to be used on a rope grid. It’s as easy to play as it is to dream up fun variations!
What are some other fun outdoor games?

Last Music Monday, we shared 9 great picks to keep the party going strong at your corporate event or wedding reception. We asked readers to suggest their pick for #10. Read the original post here and then check out these suggestions from our readers!
1. Girls Just Want To Have Fun – Cyndi Lauper
The Tune: Cyndi Lauper’s breakthrough hit, Girls Just Want To Have Fun resonates with women of all ages and is a pop-culture legacy of the 80s. With the song’s contagious beat, Lauper’s eccentric moves, and lyrics that are begging to be sung in masses, this tune is a great pick for our list!
The Groove: Lauper offers plenty of inspiration in the video. Think side stepping with bold arm movements, or fanning your skirt while you sway. The beat offers a perfect opportunity for a train, which should only encourage guests to belt out the lyrics of this feminist anthem.
2. Play That Funky Music – Wild Cherry
The Tune: A true one-hit-wonder with a title inspired by the times. For a band that normally played hard rock, this funk rock song really hit a chord with fans, propelling the tune to the top of the charts.
The Groove: Thanks to our friend, David, for these suggested dance moves: Step side to side while nodding your head to the beat. Singing along only in anticipation of the guitar solo at which you stop dancing to play your air guitar.
2. Feel So Close To You – Calvin Harris
The Tune: A classic club thumper with wistful lyrics makes this a great choice to get people to hit the dance floor! Bonus points for another surefire singalong chorus. This is Indie meets Dance at its best. We predict Feel So Close To You is going to be a popular request this wedding season.
The Groove: This song has a great, rhythmic, repetitious beat so go with it! As long as your moving in some sort of bouncy fashion, you should be good!
Be sure to check out the intense dubstep remix of Feel So Close To You from Nero… here.
What are you planning on adding to your playlist to ensure your guests bust-a-move?

Spontaneous! Candid! Performance in the true sense of the word.
This Saturday, Dueling Piano’s International of Lorio Ross Entertainment, in partnership with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, will be performing to a sold out crowd! The event will be taking place at The Heritage Center in St. Joseph, MI. We’re pumped to be a part of this; it’s going be a great show!
A High Energy, All Request, Sing Along, Clap Along, Rock N Roll, Comedy Piano show
where the audience is just as much a part
of the show as the entertainers.
Yesterday, Jason Scarcelli, owner of Dueling Pianos International, was featured on WSJM 94.9 In the Spotlight with Brenda Lane. It was a great opportunity for him to talk about the Dueling Piano’s experience. Joined by dueling piano player Michael McCaslin and SMSO Marketing Director, Mayatu Peabody, the broadcast gave listeners information on the great entertainment and pure fun they can expect Saturday night!
No script whatsoever! The beauty of Dueling Pianos is that the audience, for the most part, dictates what goes on on the stage.
A Dueling Pianos International show is all about audience participation. The players get a feel for the demographic of the audience and run with it, playing songs they know the guests will love. The audience ‘duels’ when the players pin them against one another to see who can sing the loudest. Requests are taken and if anyone is celebrating a special occasion, get ready for a surprise!
You never know who you’re gonna see at a Dueling Pianos show!
To find out more about this exciting event, listen to the broadcast here!
You can check out the SMSO’s event page here!
We’re hoping to have some great pictures and fantastic feedback after the event. Watch this space!

It’s the ultimate quest. The search for the perfect song. A song that expresses exactly what you’re feeling in that moment. A melody that evokes emotion and lyrics that speak of love and anticipation. It’s the first time you’ll dance as husband and wife and you want a timeless song that reflects your history and your new life together. It’s your First Dance.
Sounds like a lot of pressure! Many couples know exactly which song reflects their relationship but if you’re looking for a little guidance, let us make some suggestions.
We book all sorts of wedding entertainment from 5 piece bands to 12 piece bands! We book DJs, too. Every day we talk with brides and grooms to discuss the details of their day. It really doesn’t get better than this. Last weekend we created a spectacular holiday event for Producer’s Choice. This was our 5th year providing them with fantastic decor and superb entertainment. This year’s Monte Carlo theme was the perfect opportunity to implement some of our best props, decor and casino equipment. Event production by Joe Peraino.
For a Monte Carlo themed party, you really need to have a good mix of luxury and sophistication. Guests were ushered down a gold carpet runner and greeted with an arched entrance flanked with palm trees. The room was graced with fountains and statues, nicely lit against the dark decor of the room.
Lorio Ross provided really sleek black Chiavari chairs and iridescent crush black linens. The floral table arrangements, which incorporated a crystal candlestick with beaded shade, really popped against the black table settings.
A good corporate party isn’t just about the decor. For this Monte Carlo party we provided deluxe, skirted black jack, poker, craps and roulette tables. Guests had a variety of games to choose from as Lorio Ross Entertainment provided 10 dealers!
The night continued with some fantastic entertainment from the spectacular band Nightline. The group’s repertoire covers music from the Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey-era straight through golden oldies, Motown, disco and Top 40.
The stage was set with a fiber-optic curtain as the backdrop, which really added to the ambiance of the performance. Check out Nightline here!

There’s a clever little platform out there called Pinterest. We’ve known about it for a while but only recently started putting it to good use. Not only is it another way for us, as an events and entertainment company, to connect with people but it is also a fantastic way to keep track of ideas and inspirations for future events, parties and weddings.
When it comes to event planning, the sky really is the limit. No longer is there a template for events. Holiday parties, weddings, corporate events, private engagements… your only limit is your imagination. Because we want to be able to work with any concept a client fancies, it is important for us to have a place to stockpile ideas, references and any other cool stuff we happen to stumble upon.
At Lorio Ross Entertainment, our involvement with our clients spans from booking a band or providing black jack dealers to complete event planning. So whether we’re just providing lighting or producing the event from the ground up, we’re excited to have some digital pinboards on which to keep our favorite ideas.
We’ve already started pinning… Check out some of our pinboards below!
Any suggestions for themes or boards, post them on our wall!
